Lamar is 1-6 against Starkville Academy since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Lamar Raiders will be home for the holidays to greet the Starkville Academy Volunteers at 4:15 p.m.
Last Thursday, Lamar had to suffer through a rough 72-40 loss at the hands of Simpson Academy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lamar in their matchups with Simpson Academy: they've now lost eight in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jackson Whitcomb, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Salone Elliott was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Starkville Academy's three-game losing streak came to an end last Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 58-44 win over Pillow Academy.
Lamar's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Starkville Academy, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Lamar strolled past Starkville Academy in their previous meeting back in November by a score of 50-31. Will Lamar repeat their success, or does Starkville Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
