Pine River Area and Roscommon are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Pine River Area Bucks will head out on the road to challenge the Roscommon Bucks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Pine River Area focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday.
Pine River Area has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 55-46 to Northern Michigan Christian. Pine River Area has not had much luck with Northern Michigan Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Pine River Area had strong showings from Mason Gugle, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds, and Trevor Holmquist, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Roscommon scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Evart with a sharp 71-45 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Roscommon has posted against Evart since February 17, 2021.
Pine River Area's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-3. As for Roscommon, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Pine River Area strolled past Roscommon in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 58-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pine River Area since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
