Even though the Evansville Reitz Panthers have not done well against the Boonville Pioneers recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Evansville Reitz walked away with a 58-48 victory over Boonville. Given Evansville Reitz's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Boonville is ranked 293rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kaelyse Mitchell was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Bailey Hape was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Evansville Reitz is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which somehow isn't as good as their 14-4 record this season. As for Boonville, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-19.
Evansville Reitz will be playing at home against Evansville Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Evansville Memorial comes in on eight and Evansville Reitz on three. Boonville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
