Jemison is 0-3 against Selma since October of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Jemison Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Selma Saints at 7:00 p.m. Jemison is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 48-14, which was the final score in Jemison's tilt against Demopolis on Friday. While losing is never fun, Jemison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 286th, while Demopolis is ranked 113th).
Meanwhile, Selma was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 24-20 to Shelby County.
Despite the loss, Selma saw an underclassman step up: Desmeon Conner picked up 91 receiving yards and a touchdown. Conner was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 65 yards. Jason Rogers made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Even if they lost, Selma's defense still kept up the pressure with seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Ameire Eaton and Kristan Moore who racked up four sacks between them.
The losses dropped Jemison to 1-6 and Selma to 1-7.
Jemison might still be hurting after the 40-17 loss they got from Selma in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Jemison avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
