Bessemer City has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The Paul W. Bryant Stampede at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bessemer City will be strutting in after a win while Paul W. Bryant will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, Bessemer City earned a 28-21 victory over Central. The win was just what Bessemer City needed coming off of a 28-0 loss in their prior game.
Christopher Whittsett looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 102 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Cederian Moore, who rushed for 59 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Meanwhile, Paul W. Bryant was beaten by Hillcrest 60-13 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Paul W. Bryant can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Hillcrest is ranked sixth).
Bessemer City's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Paul W. Bryant, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
Bessemer City took their victory against Paul W. Bryant in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 53-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bessemer City since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
