The Columbus International Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 62-51 to Whetstone. Columbus International has not had much luck with Whetstone recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Columbus International lost, one person who can't be blamed is KJ Jones. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 29 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 56.9% of Columbus International's points, marking the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Pharoahe Zaire, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
Columbus International dropped their record down to 3-11 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Whetstone, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbus International will challenge Beechcroft at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
