Taos is 2-8 against Moriarty since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Pintos at 4:00 p.m. Taos has given up an average of 14.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Taos came up short against Espanola Valley on Saturday, falling 15-5. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly ten runs.
Meanwhile, Moriarty entered their tilt with Pojoaque Valley on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Elks get on the board and left with an 18-0 win. The Pintos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by nine runs or more this season.
Bella Maldonado made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Maldonado was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Emma Rodriguez was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two triples. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Angelita Tapia, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Moriarty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Taos' loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Moriarty, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3.
