The Grand Junction Tigers lost against the Eagle Valley Devils back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Grand Junction received a tough blow as they fell 55-38 to Eagle Valley. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Grand Junction in their matchups with Eagle Valley: they've now lost three in a row.
Nerea Sills was Grand Junction's leading scorer, having posted 12 points.
Miah Hines held things down on the boards with nine rebounds.
Eagle Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josie Fitzsimmons, who scored 20 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fitzsimmons has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zakia Shreeve, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Grand Junction's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Eagle Valley, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grand Junction will take on Fruita Monument at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Fruita Monument presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Grand Junction in Colorado (Fruita Monument is ranked 29th, while Grand Junction is ranked 207th). As for Eagle Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Montrose at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Montrose has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
