The Potomac School Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Episcopal Maroon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Potomac School will be strutting in after a victory while Episcopal will be coming in after a defeat.
Potomac School took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They blew past St. Andrew's Episcopal 12-0. The contest marked the Panthers' most dominant win of the season so far.
Owen Oliver was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double. That double was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Brady Doster was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Neik Shariati, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Potomac School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The home team had come away the winner the last six times Episcopal and Bullis had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Maroon took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs on Saturday. Maroon fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Bulldogs since Saturday.
Episcopal saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hill Porter, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
With the victory, Potomac School broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-4. As for Episcopal, they now also have a losing record of 3-4.
Everything went Potomac School's way against Episcopal in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Potomac School made off with a 12-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
