Gunnison had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They secured  a  38-32 W over the Grand Junction Central Warriors. The  victory was some much needed relief for the Cowboys as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

 Gunnison's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Kylee McDougal led the charge by  putting up 12  points along with five  boards and three  steals.
