The Rule Bobcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by Aspermont 58-22. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Rule of the 74-28 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Aspermont's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaxon Hodges led the charge by scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds. Hodges hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Broshears, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Rule's loss was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-16. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.3 points per game. As for Aspermont, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.
Rule does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Aspermont, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Electra at 6:00 p.m. on February 20th. Hopefully Aspermont focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
