Football Recap: Robbinsville Takes Down East Columbus in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Robbinsville walked away with it. They breezed past the East Columbus Gators to the tune of 54-7 on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Black Knights, who have now won four contests in a row.

Robbinsville's defense made their presence known, laying out Demetrius Dexter five times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as five different players picked up one apiece. Robbinsville received some extra help from Mathew Phillips, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

When it comes to explaining why East Columbus lost, don't look at Dawson Crosby. Despite the final result, he picked up 24 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 49 yards.

Robbinsville's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for East Columbus, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Robbinsville will welcome South Davidson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Black Knights 13.8, the Wildcats 8.4) so any points scored will be well earned. East Columbus does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
