In what's become a running theme this season, the Dieterich Movin Maroons gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. Everything went their way against North Clay/Clay City as Dieterich made off with a 73-47 win. Given Dieterich's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the are ranked 501st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dieterich's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caleb Gephart led the charge by scoring 22 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Gephart hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Lucas Westendorf was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with three blocks.
Dieterich is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for North Clay/Clay City, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-15.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dieterich will challenge the Bluestreaks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Clay/Clay City, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the at 6:15 p.m. on February 3rd.
