Hillside is 10-0 against East Chapel Hill since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hillside Hornets will be playing in front of their home fans against the East Chapel Hill Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Hillside's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while East Chapel Hill has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
Hillside posted their biggest victory since December 5, 2023 on Monday. They put the hurt on Southern Durham with a sharp 71-50 win.
It was another big night for Samiyah Barker, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and two steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Malone, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, East Chapel Hill came up short against Jordan on Wednesday and fell 43-36.
The losing side was boosted by Abigail Stone, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That was a full 55.6% of East Chapel Hill's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Eleanor Schwartz, who scored three points along with five steals and two blocks.
Hillside's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for East Chapel Hill, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Barker and Stone. Barker has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 18.1 points, 3.5 steals, and 5.1 rebounds. For her part, Stone has averaged 21.1 points, 2.5 steals, and 7.5 rebounds.
