Thornton was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 53-52 to Homewood-Flossmoor. Thornton's defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Thornton still got an impressive performance from Morez Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. The game was Johnson's 13th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Meyoh Swansey, who scored 11 points.
Thornton's loss dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Homewood-Flossmoor, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-1.
Thornton is on the road again on Friday and play against Richmond Heights at 4:30 p.m. on January 5th. One thing working in Richmond Heights' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six contests. As for Homewood-Flossmoor, they will head out on the road to face off against DePaul College Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
