The Wake Forest Cougars will square off against the Panther Creek Catamounts at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Wake Forest had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Enloe last Wednesday. Wake Forest put the hurt on Enloe with a sharp 13-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Not much got past Jil Livengood, who gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks to keep Enloe off the board.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Bowers, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and one triple. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Nova Pate was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Wake Forest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Enloe only posted an OBP of .217.
Meanwhile, Panther Creek had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against Athens Drive by a score of 9-4 on Monday.
Jessica Burk made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Burk was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Cassidy Robinson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Meghan Dracup, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Wake Forest came out on top in a nail-biter against Panther Creek in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. Does Wake Forest have another victory up their sleeve, or will Panther Creek turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
