Hoke County is 0-10 against Scotland since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hoke County Bucks' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Scotland Fighting Scots at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Hoke County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Friday.
Hoke County struggled with assists on Friday (Pinecrest had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Hoke County fell 64-53 to Pinecrest. Hoke County was down 54-34 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the defeat, Hoke County had strong showings from Julianna Macy, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds, and Kayeliana Bonner, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Macy has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Karmen Campbell, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Hoke County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. This was only their tenth loss (out of 13 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Meanwhile, after a string of nine wins, Scotland's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 55-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Richmond. While losing is never fun, Scotland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Richmond is ranked 43rd).
Hoke County has been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Scotland, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-2.
Hoke County took a serious blow against Scotland in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, falling 75-44. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Hoke County was down 43-18.
