The Douglas County Huskies lost against the Heritage Eagles back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Douglas County fell 62-53 to Heritage. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Douglas County came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Heritage is ranked 96th).
Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Vaughn Baldwin, who scored 11 points along with three steals. Baldwin continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Nettles, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Logan Hause was a one-man wrecking crew for Heritage as he scored 22 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Brayden Chaney, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.
Douglas County's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Heritage, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Douglas County's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Mountain Vista at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Heritage will take on Rock Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
