Oldham County and Floyd Central are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Colonels will host the Highlanders at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Oldham County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Oldham County was able to grind out a solid win over South Oldham, taking the game 8-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Colonels.
Laken Nimmo looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lori Edgar was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Bekah Townsend, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Floyd Central beat West Washington 7-2 on Tuesday. The Highlanders haven't had any issues with the Senators recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Floyd Central got a massive performance out of Elise Coleman, who went 3-for-4 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiersten Fiedler, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Floyd Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Washington only posted a batting average of .259.
Floyd Central's win bumped their record up to 21-6. As for Oldham County, their victory bumped their record up to 24-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Oldham County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Floyd Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
