Wakulla hasn't had much luck against Madison County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wakulla War Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Madison County Cowboys at 7:00 p.m.
Wakulla is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Anclote back in December of 2024 (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Wakulla might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Anclote an easy 74-53 win. The War Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Bradley Vaughn, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. Vaughn is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zavion Carnline, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Madison County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 59-49. While the Cowboys didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Wakulla better focus on containing Labron Lee and Jhy Smith as the pair were huge in Madison County's win. Lee went 7 of 15 on his way to 25 points along with seven boards and six assists, while Smith dropped a double-double on 13 points and 18 boards. That's the most points Lee has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Williams, who posted eight points and five steals.
Madison County's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points per game. As for Wakulla, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's matchup: Wakulla has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 47.8% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Madison County, though, as they've only made 21.6% of their three-pointers this season. Given Wakulla's sizable advantage in that area, Madison County will need to find a way to close that gap.
Wakulla was taken down by Madison County 64-24 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Wakulla avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
