The Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the McPherson Bullpups at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Bishop Carroll's game was all tied up 28-28 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 67-57 win over South. With that win, Bishop Carroll brought their scoring average up to 51.6 points per game.
Bishop Carroll can attribute much of their success to Ian Muth, who scored 20 points along with two steals, and John Hauserman, who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Muth grabbed two or more steals. Reese Peterson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, McPherson put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Mulvane with a sharp 67-42 victory. McPherson has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 25 points or more this season.
Bishop Carroll's win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-6. As for McPherson, their victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0.
Bishop Carroll was able to grind out a solid victory over McPherson when the teams last played back in March of 2019, winning 62-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bishop Carroll since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
