Baseball Recap: Frederick Drops Season-High Score on Ryan

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Frederick). They were the clear victors by a 16-7 margin over the Ryan Cowboys on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bombers with their most commanding win of the season.

Carter Russell made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Frederick's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Grady Hillburn was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Zach Peel, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Frederick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Frederick's record now sits at 7-5. As for Ryan, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Frederick will welcome Hobart at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ryan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
