The Simi Valley Pioneers extended their postseason success on Friday against the Huntington Beach Oilers. They skirted past the Oilers 32-29. Winning may never get old, but Simi Valley sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Leading Simi Valley to victory were Jesse Sereno and Brice Hawkins. Sereno rushed for 28 yards and a touchdown, while Hawkins rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown.
Several Oilers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brady Edmunds, who threw for 360 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.3 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Troy Foster, who picked up 135 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Simi Valley's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Huntington Beach, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 6-7.
Simi Valley will challenge Mira Costa at 7:00 p.m. on November 25th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Mira Costa is ranked 117th, while Simi Valley is ranked 96th). Huntington Beach does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
