Softball Recap: Greenwood Has No Trouble Against Azle

On Saturday, the Greenwood Rangers made easy work of the Azle Hornets and carried off a 9-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rangers, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Addison Arredondo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she's hit this season.

In other batting news, Greenwood let Brylee Savage and Mae Savage loose on the outfield. Brylee went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple, while Mae scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. What's more, Mae also posted three hits, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Farrah Fortner was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for Greenwood and bumps their season record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Azle, they now have a losing record of 1-2-1.

Looking ahead, Greenwood will square off against Canyon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Azle, they will venture away from home to take on Ryan at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
