Geneva County hasn't had much luck against Slocomb recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Red Tops at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Geneva County's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Poplar Springs with a sharp 10-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Dylan Tate tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
At the plate, James Wright was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Brody Griffin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Slocomb hadn't done well against Wicksburg recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Red Tops came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 5-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Red Tops as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Wyatt Reeder made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Reeder was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Slocomb: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-9 otherwise.
Reeder wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Will Hatton, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Geneva County's record now sits at 8-11. As for Slocomb, their record is now 13-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Geneva County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Slocomb struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Geneva County suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Slocomb in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
