After flying high against the Golden City Eagles last Friday, the New Covenant Academy Warriors came back down to earth. New Covenant Academy took a 62-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, New Covenant Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 497th, while the Patriots are ranked 240th).
Caleb Widner was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with seven steals and five rebounds for School of the Ozarks. The team also got some help courtesy of Graham Wilhoit, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
New Covenant Academy's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-10. As for School of the Ozarks, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Covenant Academy will square off against the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Niangua focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday.
