Shorecrest Prep hasn't had much luck against Northside Christian recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Chargers will face off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Shorecrest Prep sitting on four straight victories and Northside Christian on six.
Last Friday, Shorecrest Prep was able to grind out a solid win over Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate, taking the game 13-8.

Wesley Ryan was incredible, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Christopher Booth also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Northside Christian sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over Paul Laurence Dunbar on Monday.
Northside Christian also got a great performance from Merric Hunt as he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Hunt has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Northside Christian saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Jones, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Another was JD Howard, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Northside Christian pushed their record up to 15-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Shorecrest Prep, their record now sits at 9-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Shorecrest Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Northside Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Shorecrest Prep skirted past Northside Christian 5-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Chargers repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
