The South Pointe Griffins will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Heritage Academy Heroes at 6:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Pointe has six straight wins, Heritage Academy has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Even though South Pointe has not done well against Glenview College Prep recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. South Pointe walked away with a 66-58 victory over Glenview College Prep. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Prince Sohn was his usual excellent self, scoring 34 points along with six assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Shawn Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Heritage Academy suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were beaten by Imagine Prep 69-38. While losing is never fun, Heritage Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Imagine Prep is ranked 17th).
South Pointe's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Heritage Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.
South Pointe came up short against Heritage Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2021, falling 56-44. Can South Pointe avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
