Destiny Christian Academy is 9-1 against El Camino since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. Destiny Christian Academy was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Rio Linda on Tuesday. The Lions' pitchers stepped up to hand the Knights a 9-0 shutout. Considering the Lions have won eight games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ayla Tuua made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two hits in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Maddilyn Woodcock and McKayla Fulmer did most of the damage at the plate: Woodcock went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Fulmer went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Woodcock has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Abbey Falvey, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Destiny Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rio Linda only posted a batting average of .045.
Meanwhile, El Camino came up short against Casa Roble on Tuesday, falling 26-6.
Claire Schwartz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of James Lyons, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Destiny Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for El Camino, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
El Camino's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Destiny Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for El Camino, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Destiny Christian Academy keep running through batters, or will the Eagles buck the trend?
Destiny Christian Academy took their victory against El Camino in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 18-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
