Basketball Recap: Andy Mclear and Tima Makovey Secure Win for Center

Center's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 58-50 win over the El Camino Eagles. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 64-46 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2021.

Leading Center to victory were Tima Makovey and Andy McLear. Makovey posted 29 points, while McLear almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. McLear's afternoon made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Damian Sandridge, who had four points and eight rebounds.

Center is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for El Camino, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Center and Fortuna will compete for holiday cheer on Thursday. Center knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Fortuna likes a good challenge. As for El Camino, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Natomas at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
