The Kiski Area Cavaliers entered their tilt with the Armstrong River Hawks with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Kiski Area walked away with a 42-34 victory over Armstrong on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Kiski Area's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carson Heinle, who rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 228 yards and two touchdowns. Heinle was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Kucic, who rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns.
Kiski Area's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Tavian Wilson and his two sacks.
Several River Hawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ian Olsen, who picked up 151 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Jaydon Oliver, who threw for 263 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.2 yards per attempt.
Kiski Area is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. As for Armstrong, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.
Kiski Area will head out on the road to face off against Thomas Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Thomas Jefferson presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Kiski Area in Pennsylvania (Thomas Jefferson is ranked 29th, while Kiski Area is ranked 217th). Armstrong does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
