United is 8-1 against Laredo LBJ since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The United Longhorns will be playing at home against the Laredo LBJ Wolves at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (United has four straight wins, Laredo LBJ has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
United can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They claimed a resounding 45-14 victory over Del Rio on the road. Given United's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 359th, while Del Rio is ranked 741st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Atzel Chavez Jr. was his usual excellent self, throwing for 275 yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in two touchdowns on the ground. Another player making a difference was Christian Saldana, who picked up 106 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Laredo LBJ was beaten by Eagle Pass 48-6 on Friday.
United's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.5 points per game. As for Laredo LBJ, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Everything went United's way against Laredo LBJ in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as United made off with a 28-7 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Laredo LBJ's Rene Ramos, who rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for United to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
