It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Gregory Gorillas ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 44-37 win over Jones County. Winning may never get old, but Gregory sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Gregory's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cruz Klundt led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Klundt is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Bearshield, who scored 17 points along with three blocks and two steals.
Cooper Feddersen and Gunnar Whitney certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Feddersen dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Whitney scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. Feddersen is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last three games he's played.
Gregory pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.8 points. As for Jones County, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-5.
Gregory won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Kimball/White Lake at 6:30 p.m. on January 27th. Gregory is facing Kimball/White Lake at the right time seeing as Kimball/White Lake is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Jones County, they will head out on the road to face off against Sully Buttes at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Jones County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
