Avinger has been on the road for eight straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Avery Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Avinger comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 64-15, which was the final score in Avinger's tilt against Elysian Fields on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Avinger can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1590th, while Elysian Fields is ranked 578th).
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Avery beat Maud 55-50 on Saturday.
Avinger's loss was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-8. As for Avery, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.
Avinger suffered a grim 54-30 defeat to Avery in their previous matchup back in November. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Avinger was down 33-12.
