Baseball Recap: Snowflake Has No Trouble Against Winslow

Snowflake was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Winslow on Tuesday. The Lobos were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over the Bulldogs. Considering the Lobos have won six contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kyler Matthews made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 14 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Skip Bawden and Aaden Coor did most of the damage at the plate: Bawden scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Coor scored two runs while going 5-for-5. Those five hits gave Coor a new career-high. Gavin Rausch was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

The win snapped Snowflake's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-5 record. As for Winslow, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12-1 record this season.

Snowflake will venture away from home to take on Valley Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Winslow, they will host Chino Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
