The Corner Canyon Chargers will be playing at home against the Herriman Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Corner Canyon faced Riverton in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Corner Canyon came out on top against Riverton by a score of 53-41. Winning may never get old, but Corner Canyon sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Corner Canyon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Derelle Desire out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Desire hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Taylor Feroah, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Herriman beat Mountain Ridge 57-51 on Friday. Given Herriman's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Mountain Ridge is ranked 66th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Corner Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. As for Herriman, they pushed their record up to 11-3 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
Corner Canyon strolled past Herriman in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 71-55. Will Corner Canyon repeat their success, or does Herriman have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
