Fremont and Farmington are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 1900, but likely not for long. The Silverwolves will challenge the Phoenix at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fremont is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
On Tuesday, Fremont beat Layton 8-4.
The team relied heavily on Savannah Palmatier, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Saige Steele was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Fremont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Farmington was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They lost 9-1 to Davis. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Farmington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Wright, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Fremont pushed their record up to 7-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Farmington, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fremont hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .396. However, it's not like Farmington struggles in that department as they've averaged .389. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fremont took their win against Farmington in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 17-9 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Silverwolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
