The Westford Academy Grey Ghosts will head out to square off against the Acton-Boxborough Revolution at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Westford Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11 runs per game this season.
Westford Academy gave up the first runs last Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 5-2 win over Wayland. The Grey Ghosts haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Khloe Felicani was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and two runs. Felicani is crushing it when it comes to hits: she's got at least three every time she's taken the field this season. Grace Janowsky was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Acton-Boxborough had just enough and edged out Newton South 6-4 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Revolution.
Ila Gillespie was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Gillespie was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alice Rosecan, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5. Cassidy Ford also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Acton-Boxborough kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Westford Academy's record now sits at 3-1. As for Acton-Boxborough, their record is now an identical 3-1.
Westford Academy's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Grey Ghosts have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Acton-Boxborough, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Westford Academy continue to outrun the ball?
Westford Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Acton-Boxborough in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grey Ghosts since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
