The Arvada West Wildcats were the 59-47 winner over the Chatfield Chargers when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Arvada West fell to Chatfield 39-34. Arvada West has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Arvada West's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sara Walker, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Harrison, who scored nine points.
Chatfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Audrey Hubbell led the charge by scoring 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hubbell has scored all season. Jordyn Reed was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Arvada West has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season. As for Chatfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arvada West on the road again on Friday and play against Lakewood at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. Lakewood has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 7. As for Chatfield, they will head out on the road to square off against Columbine at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Columbine is ranked 47th, while Chatfield is ranked 31st).
