St. Joseph Academy is 8-2 against Christ's Church Academy since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. St. Joseph Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Christ's Church Academy at 4:00 p.m. St. Joseph Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
St. Joseph Academy is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Creekside just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.
St. Joseph Academy saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Lewis, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Christ's Church Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Red Flashes.
Josh Stembridge looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on AJ Fedick, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
Christ's Church Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hilliard only managed five hits.
Christ's Church Academy pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for St. Joseph Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. Joseph Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Christ's Church Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
