Ripon is 8-2 against Escalon since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Indians will face off against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Ripon had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Sonora on Thursday. The Indians were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Wildcats. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Meanwhile, Escalon got the win against Ripon Christian on Thursday by a conclusive 18-1.
Kyla Holback was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Madison Babasa was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tenley Adams, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Escalon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .378. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ripon Christian only posted a batting average of .143.
Ripon's record now sits at 15-5. As for Escalon, their record is now 7-11.
Escalon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Ripon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. It's a different story for Escalon, though, as they've only averaged .255. Will they be able to contain Ripon's hitters?
Ripon came out on top in a nail-biter against Escalon in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
