After flying high against the Eleva-Strum Cardinals on Friday, the Melrose-Mindoro Mustangs came back down to earth. Melrose-Mindoro was dealt a 82-25 loss at the hands of Aquinas on Monday. Melrose-Mindoro has not had much luck with Aquinas recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Aquinas found their leader in underclassman Samantha Davis, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Davis has scored at least 25% of Aquinas' points. Madeline Murphy was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Melrose-Mindoro's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Aquinas, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Melrose-Mindoro will take on Whitehall at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Whitehall has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Aquinas, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tomah at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
