The Golder Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their tenth straight loss. They were dealt a 60-14 loss at the hands of ITW David Speer Academy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Golder in their matchups with ITW David Speer Academy: they've now lost seven in a row.
ITW David Speer Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Yarilyn Figueroa led the charge by scoring 13 points along with five steals. Figueroa hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Grullon, who scored ten points along with six steals and two blocks.
Golder has been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for ITW David Speer Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.
Golder will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against DePaul College Prep at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. The timing is sure in DePaul College Prep's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while Golder has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road. As for ITW David Speer Academy, they will take on Lake View at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake View is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
