Lafayette Jefferson is 1-9 against Kokomo since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bronchos will take on the Wildkats at 5:30 p.m.
On Friday, Lafayette Jefferson came up short against Twin Lakes and fell 7-4. The Bronchos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lafayette Jefferson saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sayler Teal, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Kenzie Hutchison was another, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Kokomo waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They beat the Indians by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. Considering the Wildkats have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Emma Lees made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Lees was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Kokomo got a big performance out of Alaina Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave Thompson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lanaya Buckner, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Kokomo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.
Kokomo's record is now 15-10. As for Lafayette Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-11.
Lafayette Jefferson suffered a grim 18-8 defeat to Kokomo when the teams last played on May 1st. Can the Bronchos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
