The Santa Fe Raiders will face off against the North Marion Colts at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Fe's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three contests, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Santa Fe lost 9-2 to Suwannee on Friday.
Santa Fe got a good showing from Brody Rou, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. That's the first time Rou hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024.
On the hitting side, Santa Fe saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Beck, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, North Marion's hitters rose to the challenge against an Indians pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.82 runs allowed on Monday. The Colts blew past Keystone Heights 12-3. The result was nothing new for the Colts, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
C.J. Sayler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because North Marion is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-9 otherwise. Sayler was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Rowan Quartararo was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of North Marion's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 8-10 when he doesn't). Tucker Jones was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
North Marion always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Santa Fe's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for North Marion, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
Santa Fe skirted past North Marion 11-10 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Colts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
