The Sunset Knights won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. Their rough 46-21 loss to TERRA Environmental might stick with them for a while. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sunset in their matchups with the : they've now lost six in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Sunset lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bianca Pacheco. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Pacheco hasn't dropped below three steals for four straight games. Alyssa Torrech was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Sunset struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as TERRA Environmental racked up 12 assists.
Leading TERRA Environmental to victory were Francesca Rodriguez and Shannon Greene. Rodriguez scored 14 points along with seven rebounds, while Greene dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Greene continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Miani Pantaleon, who scored five points along with two steals.
Sunset's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-12. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.0 points per game. As for TERRA Environmental, their win bumped their record up to 9-11.
Sunset won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on January 31st. Braddock presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Knights in Florida (the Bulldogs are ranked 208th, while the Knights are ranked 523rd). As for TERRA Environmental, they will be playing at home against the Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
