Genoa Christian Academy will square off against the Tree of Life Christian Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Genoa Christian Academy will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Delaware Christian on Tuesday. Genoa Christian Academy put the hurt on Delaware Christian with a sharp 18-6 victory. With that win, Genoa Christian Academy brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Vinny Messana was incredible, going 3-for-4 with nine RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Braxton Couch, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Genoa Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Delaware Christian only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tree of Life Christian). They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over Northside Christian on Tuesday. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Jacob Brown was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Tree of Life Christian is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 2-3 otherwise. Brown was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Meshach Bishara, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Keon King, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Genoa Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Tree of Life Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
