They were two  runs away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Oak Glen Golden Bears. The Maroon Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Golden Bears earlier this season, when they won  3-1.
As for Oak Glen, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won 16 of their last 18 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-8 record  this season. Those  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games.
For Oak Glen's part,  Mattie Carney made a big impact no matter where she played. She  didn't allow a single  earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Carney has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 1-for-2 with one  home run.
 Carney wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Macy Hartung, who  went 1-for-3 with one  stolen base and one  run. That  stolen base was  Hartung's first of the season.
