The Akron Rams lost to the Wiggins Tigers back in February, but the Akron Rams didn't allow the Wiggins Tigers the same satisfaction on Saturday. Akron walked away with a 52-40 win over Wiggins.
Akron got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Addicyn Kessinger out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Kessinger has scored at least 25% of Akron's points. Another player making a difference was Kinsey Grauer, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds.
Wiggins' loss came despite strong showings from Kennedy Kerr and Riley Hunt. Kerr scored 17 points, while Hunt scored seven points along with 11 rebounds. The matchup was Kerr's sixth in a row with at least ten points.
Akron is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. As for Wiggins, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
Akron will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Sedgwick County at 4:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Sedgwick County is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Wiggins will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Byers at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Hopefully Byers focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
