Hampton has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Phoebus Phantoms at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hampton had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They walked away with a 32-25 victory over Smithfield.
Hampton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamarrie Lumpkins led the charge by picking up 102 receiving yards, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground.
Meanwhile, Phoebus put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Jamestown 104-0 at home. Considering Phoebus has won nine matchups by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Hampton's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Phoebus, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0.
Hampton might still be hurting after the 28-6 loss they got from Phoebus when the teams last played back in September. Can Hampton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
